Saturdays, October 11 and 18 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The beautiful park-like grounds at Craftsman Farms offer a pastoral variety ideal for landscape painters, and autumn is a perfect time for artists to capture that beauty and diversity. Our upcoming Plein Air Painting Workshops on Saturday, October 11 and October 18 from 9:00 a.m. – 12 p.m., were created with autumn’s vibrant colors in mind. Workshop instructor Charles David Viera, a professional artist and teacher for over thirty years, who recently received the “Outstanding Artists Award” at the Hunterdon Cultural and Heritage Commission’s Biennial Juried Exhibition, has taught at some of the finest art schools in the northeast including the Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute in New York.
These workshops are for adult artists working at any level from beginner to advanced. For advanced artists each workshop provides an inspiring bucolic setting, feedback from an experienced teacher, and camaraderie with other artists. For beginners the 3-hour workshops will offer a great opportunity to establish and fine tune basic skills in a relaxed atmosphere. Viera, who has worked extensively with beginning artists over the years, says that “the most enjoyable aspect of painting the landscape is that it may be the most forgiving of subject matters that an artist can work from.” He goes on to say that the “flexibility” of landscape painting means that students “can expect a considerable amount of success even if they possess modest painting and drawing skills.”
Advance registration is required. Participants may work in the medium of their choice. Materials are not provided; however artists are welcome to request guidance on purchasing materials. Chairs will be provided, but artists are asked to bring their own easels.
