Christmas at Craftsman Farms

December 1st - 2nd, December 8th - 9th, December 15th - 16th

Holiday Open House & Museum Store Hours: 10:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.

Experience the Christmas holidays as they were celebrated in 1915. The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms—home to the leading Arts and Crafts designer Gustav Stickley—will be all decked out for the holidays, as the Stickley, his wife and six teenaged children would have decorated it.

On Saturdays, “Mrs. Claus” will visit the Log House from 11 to 2 p.m.. Bring the children and learn all about the origins of Mrs. Claus in 1899 and other holiday rituals of the period, such as the introduction of the tin cookie cutter and the lavish dessert buffet.

In the Stickley's log house home, the Christmas tree will sparkle with Bavarian glass ornaments that were the fashion. Then as now, evergreen garlands will festoon the staircase and poinsettias, which Stickley described as “the Christmas Flaming Star,” will brighten the three fireplaces. Holiday cards from the period will be on display, as will examples of the simply wrapped, handmade gifts that Stickley's daughters enjoyed creating. Holiday music from the period and light refreshments complete the open house atmosphere.

Shop for the holidays at the Museum Shop. Finds books, cards, pottery, textiles, art glass, jewelry, tiles, prints and more.

Tours are: $7 for adults, $6 for members, and $4 for children 12 and under
