                Description
While similar in proportions to Child's Arm Rocker (no. 343) that Stickley produced from about 1904 through 1915, this chair differs in significant ways and is believed to be unique. First, there is no front stretcher on this example, whereas the cataloged form featured a wide front stretcher. Second, whereas the cataloged example has two stretchers on each side of the chair, this has a single stretcher. Lastly, it lacks a back stretcher altogether.
According to family tradition, this chair was made for Mildred Stickley's daughter Ruth, probably while the family was living in the North Cottage. The visible leather is original to the chair, though modern leather has been added underneath this to improve the stability of the seat.
