                Description
The strong, simplified design of the flowers painted on this pitcher are indicative of the conventionalized design favored by many in the Arts and Crafts movement. If the overall tonality and shape of the irises are reminiscent of Newcomb College's early wares, the distinctive black outlines seem to relate more to the design strategies practiced at the Paul Revere Pottery and may well indicate the decorator was familiar with both. In short, the design and execution is perfectly in keeping with the tenets of Arts and Crafts pottery in America. Although signed on the base, the maker of this charming pitcher has not been identified.
