Description
Because of the blend of Art Nouveau and Japoniste aesthetics in this trivet, we have dated it here to about 1900-15. Descending in the family–and presumably purchased new–this suggests it was acquired either prior to, or during, the family's residence at Craftsman Farms. On its own it is a pleasant, if unremarkable, object; in concert with the other silver Stickley owned, it reinforces the diversity of aesthetics that informed the family's visual world.
