Description
These tall, turned candlesticks must be amongst the most exuberant pair that Stickley manufactured and, to date, are the only known examples executed in the Chromewald line. Although they have been overpainted, they retain their original color underneath, a bluish-green that is most evident on the bases. Combined with the fact that their original copper bobeches have remained with the candlesticks for more than one hundred years, these are in a remarkable state of completeness. According to family tradition, the gold paint was added by Mildred Stickley to enliven the pair and make them more festive for Christmas.
