Description

Amongst the numerous objects Stickley purchased from Siegfried Bing's shop in Paris, the pair of covered vases that adorned the top of a corner cabinet in the Dining Room rank amongst the truly exceptional. These are a large, bold statement, exquisitely decorated in the Art Nouveau style, and seminal examples of the fruitful nature of the collaboration between Colonna and Bing. We are only beginning to realize the depth of Stickley's affinity for European Art Nouveau, and the extent to which he felt it complemented his own furniture.
