Meet us in Newport, Rhode Island for a “Gilded-Age getaway” this fall! Our Newport trip—inspired by the museum’s virtual classes and planned especially for Stickley fans—will offer an unprecedented opportunity to explore this seaside city’s extraordinary historic mansions through an Arts and Crafts lens.

With an itinerary planned by Ulysses Dietz, Chief Curator Emeritus of the Newark Museum, and Jonathan Clancy, Director of Collections and Preservation (SMCF), and in close coordination with the Preservation Society of Newport County (PSNC), we’ll see a total of seven Newport mansions including:

  • Hunter House
  • Kingscote
  • Chateau-sur-Mer
  • Isaac Bell House
  • Marble House
  • The Elms
  • The Breakers

Throughout our travels, we’ll be joined by special guest Ulysses Dietz, who will lead our group on an exclusive tour of his new exhibition for the PSNC, “Anything You Want: A Closer Look at Treasures of Newport’s Gilded Age” at Rosecliff’s galleries on Bellevue Avenue.

We will stay three nights at the grand, historic Hotel Viking, an elegant Colonial Revival-style icon nestled in the Historic Hill district on famed Bellevue Avenue, within walking distance from Newport Harbor. Opened in 1926, the Hotel Viking is a member of the prestigious Historic Hotels of America.

Your trip fee includes 3 nights at the 4-star Hotel Viking; daily breakfast (3), two (2) lunches, and one (1) dinner, all activities and transportation to activities via motorcoach. Travel to and from Newport is not included. Farms Afield begins in the afternoon on 9/6 and ends in the afternoon on 9/9. An itinerary will be provided in advance. Trip activities require moderate walking each day, rain or shine. Please plan accordingly. Farms Afield is a member benefit and open only to current members of the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required for all participants.

Space is limited and this trip is expected to sell out. With prior arrangement, attendees are welcome to pay trip fees in installments of their choosing. Full refunds are available through 6/1/22; after this date 50% refunds will be provided. No refunds are available after the trip begins.
