Description

Although we do not know precisely when these fire screens were installed in the Log House, they do not appear in the photographs for Natalie Curtis's 1911 article celebrating the completion of the building, and are similarly absent in the later photographs of the interior during Stickley's time, believed to have been taken in 1913. This is one of seven known screens on the property, all of which remain in the Museum's collection. Each features a wrought iron frame, screened panels, and hammered copper work. In addition to the five screens in the Log House, screens survive from both the White Cottage and the South Cottage, but none is known for the North Cottage.
