Description
This vase may well be Russian as it is similar–especially in the treatment of the handles and spout–to one Stickley illustrated in the May 1902 issue of The Craftsman (see photo no. 4). The decoration of this piece is quite simple, with bosses around the shoulder and stamped decoration on the handles. During Stickley's tenure at Craftsman Farms, this vase is documented on top of the tall bookcase at the south end of the dining room. Some time after Stickley sold the property, this was converted into a lamp base which was placed atop the newell post for the staircase.
