This tile was adapted from a design for a book cover that Dard Hunter created during his time at Roycroft. William Joseph “Dard” Hunter (1883-1966) was primarily devoted to the study of papermaking. His designs for the Roycroft community in East Aurora, New York, helped define the Arts & Crafts movement in America.

The 4×8″ tile is finished in a Dard Hunter Studios Oak Park frame made of quartersawn oak. Dard Hunter Studios was founded by early Roycrofter Dard Hunter and is currently run by his grandson, Dard Hunter III.

Every Motawi tile is made by hand and with heart in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
