Hand thrown ceramic vase with pine needle basketry.

This piece is hand thrown by artist Hannie Goldgewicht from her studio in Los Angeles, California.

Hannie has won over 10 awards at juried art festival across California including Best In Show. She has been featured in the American Craft Council Magazine and has been selected to exhibit by the Pasadena Showcase House. Her work is inspired by her childhood in Costa Rica and her love of natural beauty.

Hannie makes her pieces by trimming, firing, and finishing the ceramics with different techniques and patinas, and then she begins to weave around the rim. The needs are handpicked, cleaned, then weaved with wax thread using the “coiling method”.

She works closely with her husband, Leo Gotlibowski, for many years across many different projects. Both skilled artisans, we currently carry a selection of Leo’s Mid-Modern Century Leather Bracelets as well.
