Stylizing such an intricate flower as an iris proved tricky. Nawal Motawi mingled visual cues from multiple Arts & Crafts-period renderings to arrive at the design for this 4×8″ tile. Like the flower, this iris is more declarative than demure.

The tile is finished in a Dard Hunter Studios Oak Park frame made of quartersawn oak. Dard Hunter Studios was founded by early Roycrofter Dard Hunter and is currently run by his grandson, Dard Hunter III. The grain pattern of each framed tile varies.

Every Motawi tile is made by hand and with heart in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As each Motawi tile is crafted by hand, dimensions may vary slightly by up to 1/16″
