Hand Painted Rosette Tile (6×6″)

$225.00

Hand-painted to perfection, the Sonata tiles are part of Rookwood‘s Studio Tile Collection. This pair of floral tiles came from an original mold and both made their first appearance in our 1912 catalog. Each of these tiles depict beautiful stylized florals surrounded by rich and delicately detailed greenery. Each tile was carved with attention to detail that shows through with our carefully curated glaze selections.

Rookwood’s founder Maria Longworth Nichols Storer made history on Thanksgiving Day in 1880, with Rookwood becoming the first large manufacturing enterprise founded and owned by a woman in the United States. Today, Rookwood continues to build upon its rich heritage and Maria’s vision through their continued dedication to crafting some of the highest quality Art Pottery and Architectural Tile handmade in the United States.

No two pieces of the same design look exactly alike, that’s part of the magic of handmade ceramics. Minor variations in size, decoration, color and finish are intrinsic to pottery. Please expect and embrace the variation inherent in their process.

This charming tile is available both unframed and framed in a custom handcrafted quartersawn white oak frame, by Dard Hunter of Dard Hunter Studios. Run by Dard Hunter III, the grandson of Arts and Crafts designer and artist William Joseph “Dard” Hunter, Dard Hunter Studios in Chillicothe, Ohio uses only the finest materials to create frames that stand the test of time. The Signature Finish on these custom frames is a four-step process, the final of which is a hand-rubbed wax, just like was found on Stickley furniture. This gives the frame the patina of an heirloom that will withstand sunlight and wear and provide beauty and enjoyment for years to come.
