Julie Leidel – Useful or Beautiful Art Canvas

Roycroft Renaissance Master Artisan Julie Leidel of The Bungalow Craft created this painting as part of her Hammered & Hewn Series. She starts with a solid panel, then adds a sculptural molding compound to create the effects of metal backgrounds. She was inspired by the warmth of a mica lamp and a copper frame found within The Blackwell House iWindermere by M.H. Baillie Scott. Within the frame is a poem by William Morris. This work is inspired by not only his words, but also by his eye for decorative design.

Reproductions of the original artwork are available as art prints on canvas. Each canvas is 1.25″ thick and ready to be hung with pre-installed hanging hardware attached to the back.

Julie Leidel‘s artwork evokes a feeling of yesteryear and connects to our memories of the natural beauty that surrounds us. She strives to creatively translate the landscape, architecture, animals, and written word into artwork for the Craftsman home.
