The Craftsman Tile (4×8″) – Viridian

$120.00$220.00

The Craftsman Shop is pleased to present The Craftsman Tile by Pewabic Pottery. Produced through a six-month collaboration, the design of this gorgeous 4 x 8” tile in Pewabic’s classic Viridian glaze was inspired by two inlaid furniture designs—the New Craftsman Piano and Inlaid Armchair by the Craftsman Workshops–in the collection of the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms.

With this beautiful decorative tile, you can bring a piece of Craftsman Farms into your home and honor the important legacies of these two National Historic Landmarks. Available unframed, with a hanging notch, or framed in a custom-made white oak frame.

Pewabic is a National Historic Landmark pottery in Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 1903 by Mary Chase Perry and Horace Caulkins, Pewabic quickly rose to popularity for its distinctive iridescent glazes and architectural tile installations. Today, Pewabic continues its legacy as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to enriching the human spirit through clay. Visitors can watch staff artisans handcraft the latest designs using traditional techniques and a clay mixer dating back to the early 1900s; explore galleries of contemporary ceramic art from around the country; or take experience clay with the Pewabic Education Studio.

Run by Dard Hunter III, the grandson of Arts and Crafts designer and artist William Joseph “Dard” Hunter, Dard Hunter Studios in Chillicothe, Ohio uses only the finest materials to create pieces that stand the test of time. This custom frame is quartersawn white oak, with a unique beveled molding and mitered corners. The Signature Finish is a four-step process, the final of which is a hand-rubbed wax, just like was found on Stickley furniture. This gives the frame the patina of an heirloom that will withstand sunlight and wear and provide beauty and enjoyment for years to come.
