“The lyf so short, the craft so long to lerne”

This 27 x 8” banner in reclaimed copper is a Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms exclusive partnership with the artisans of Cobre. A detailed replica of the repousse copper panel on the South Hearth of the Log House, this quote from the prologue of Chaucer’s A Parliament of Fowls is a favorite of Gustav Stickley and visitors to the museum. It comes unframed, with copper hanging hooks on the back, or framed in a custom quartersawn white oak frame by Dard Hunter Studios.

Cobre produces beautifully crafted, hand-hammered copper accents, sustainably produced with reclaimed copper and fairly traded since 1994.

Run by Dard Hunter III, the grandson of Arts and Crafts designer and artist William Joseph “Dard” Hunter, Dard Hunter Studios in Chillicothe, Ohio uses only the finest materials to create pieces that stand the test of time. This custom frame is quartersawn white oak, with mitered corners. The Signature Finish is a four-step process, the final of which is a hand-rubbed wax, just like was found on Stickley furniture. This gives the frame the patina of an heirloom that will withstand sunlight and wear and provide beauty and enjoyment for years to come.

This item is shipped directly from Cobre. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery. Contact shop@stickleymuseum.org with any questions.
